Exploring medicine as a career and figuring out whether it is actually a good fit
Choosing courses and extracurriculars strategically while building a strong college experience
Finding clinical and shadowing opportunities that help you learn more about medicine and patient care
Getting started with research and figuring out what kinds of opportunities make sense for you
Building relationships with professors and other potential recommenders
Creating an academic plan and figuring out how to address academic challenges
Planning for the MCAT, including timing and how to fit preparation into your schedule
Thinking through gap or bridge years, including employment and other ways to use that time strategically
Developing a medical school list based on your academic profile, goals, experiences, and other priorities
Preparing your application, including the personal statement, activities, and secondary applications
Preparing for interviews and thinking through how to talk about your experiences, interests, and goals
There isn't one "pre-med" path. You don't need to major in biology or follow a particular set of extracurriculars to become a strong medical school applicant. At the same time, medical schools do have prerequisite coursework and expect applicants to demonstrate meaningful academic, clinical, and other experiences. The goal is to build those pieces thoughtfully while figuring out what interests you and why medicine makes sense for you.
A Little More About My Approach
I view myself as an enthusiastic partner to each student I work with. Rather than following a strict checklist, we look at what makes sense for you. Then we come up with a plan, and I'm there to help you execute it.
That might include helping you figure out how to start shadowing, get meaningful clinical experience, whether a research opportunity is worth pursuing, how to balance your coursework with extracurricular commitments, when to take the MCAT, or whether a gap year makes sense for you.
Whether you are just beginning to explore medicine or are ready to apply, I can help you figure out what comes next.
